Ella’s Biography

When I was three years old I discovered a love for wiggling around on my tip toes! My fab parents are artistic and my brother a musician so I guess performing is in my genes! I was enrolled into Ballet classes at the Willow Tree Centre of Dance and Performing Arts, tutored under the watchful eye of Irene Holland.

At the age of seven I had lessons in all styles of dance as well as singing and drama.  I auditioned for the BBC drama series 'The Vet' and was cast as the Vets daughter Charlotte.  I spent two years filming two series, most of my time either on set, running between makeup trailers and costume vans or at school studying.  When sixteen I studied Performing Arts BTEC and 'A' Level dance at Exeter College, gaining experience in all areas of performing and productions as well as choreographing for the company’s two shows. I left the college with 4 A’s and a very big smile!

I have performed in 33 productions, many of those shows were the Willow Tree annual showcases in which, for the last two years, I have danced with Luke Hirtle, former Rambert Ballet and Contemporary School Graduate. Other shows include  Bugsy Malone, Oliver, The Lion, the Witch and The Wardrobe, Annie, Peter Pan, The Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Joseph and His Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Doctor Faustus, and Barnum, in which I learned to stilt walk! (for the first and last time in my life I was 7 foot tall). I also performed as part of the NODA (National Operatic and Dramatic Association) Centenary celebrations at the London Palladium in 1999.

Having spent four years assisting Jazz teacher Vicky Baldwin, and Irene with their classes at Willow Tree I chose further Ballet training to qualify as a teacher.  I was accepted onto the Ballet Education course at the Royal Academy of Dance in Battersea, London and spent a year and a half living in a leotard, tights and Pointe shoes and training 6 hours a day!  I Left the Royal Academy with a certificate in Ballet Education and a vocational exam.  I  returned home to work as a dance teacher.  Now in my third year of a full time degree in Childhood and Youth Studies at Exeter University, working part time as a dance teacher for Willow Tree, Castle Primary School, Bolham Primary School, and the Exeter University Dance Society.

And finally, I absolutely love being one of Bucks Fizz’s 'Fizzettes'.  Working with such fantastically friendly and talented professionals is hugely inspiring and great fun. Long may it continue....save me a space in the tour bus!!
