The Best Years of Our
Lives
Some
of the biggest TV stars of the Eighties will be live on
stage at Paignton’s Palace Avenue Theatre this summer in
a star-studded new show, The
Best Years of Our Lives.
The
show brings together the fantastic
Krankies, the hilarious Stu Francis, and
legendary Eurovision Song contest winners Bucks Fizz
and runs every Tuesday, Wednesday and
Thursday from July13th until September 2nd.
The
Krankies were a mainstay of TV in the Eighties,
rarely off our screens they starred in their own series
for 12 years, from Crackerjack and The
Krankies Electronic Komic on BBC1 to KTV and
The Krankies Klub on ITV. An entire generation
grew up with Jimmy Krankie, the cheeky schoolboy, whose
catchphrase Fan Dabi Dozi has entered the English
language. The Krankies are still a huge hit with
theatre audiences across the country and are one of the
biggest draws in UK pantomime. Their act is bang up to
date, featuring hilarious appearances from Ozzy
Osbourne and Susan Boyle, alongside their
classic ventriloquist act – with Jimmy lurching
backwards and forwards as the doll. The duo manage to
hit the perfect balance, tickling the kids’ funny bones
while entertaining the grown ups on another level.
Residents of Torbay for the last 13 years, this is Ian
and Janette’s first time on stage at The Palace Avenue.
Stu
Francis is no stranger to
Torbay, having appeared in many fantastic shows both
in the Princess Theatre and with The Krankies at
Paignton’s Festival Theatre. Stu will mostly be
remembered as the fantastic, charismatic host of
Crackerjack, the most watched children’s show during
the Seventies and Eighties. He brings his classic
"Crush a Grape" humour to The Best Years of Our Lives,
reuniting with The Krankies to bring back
memories of the trio’s classic Crackerjack days.
Awarded Comedian of the Year by Stage Newspaper, due to
his wonderful humour and individual way of delivering a
joke, Lancashire born Stu was rarely off the TV in the
Eighties. He performed regularly on The Comedians,
Live at Her Majesties, Ultra Quiz,
Seaside Specials, Children’s Royal Command,
and of course his own show Crush a Grape. If
you’re looking for comedy in its purest form – the
perfect combination of a good joke, well told and
perfectly timed – look no further than Stu Francis.
Bucks
Fizz became pop sensations
when they won the 1981 Eurovision song contest with the
unforgettable ‘Making Your Mind Up’, which became a
major hit across the continent, reaching number one in
the UK and eight other countries. With a further two
No1’s - ‘The Land Of Make Believe’ and ‘My Camera Never
Lies’, plus a string of chart hits, Bucks Fizz
have achieved worldwide record sales exceeding 50
million. This brilliantly talented line up, headed by
original member, and voice of all the hits Bobby G,
perform new material as well as old favourites,
including ‘New Beginning’, ‘Now Those Days Are Gone’ and
‘I Hear Talk’. With their perfect harmonies, sparkling
choreography and fabulous costumes the group are still
one of the most entertaining theatre acts in the country
… and yes… they still rip the skirts off.
This
Summer Spectacular features the fantastic, high energy
'FIZZ' dancers to add even more to your enjoyment
with their creative costumes and spectacular, energetic
dance routines.
Utilising
some of the latest projection technology, interactive
visuals and intelligent lighting, this show is right up
to date, without losing any of the glitz, glamour, and
humour of a timeless traditional summer show. If there
is one show you must see this summer…this is The One!
Jam-Packed with laughter, music and dancing, culminating
in a tremendous Eighties finale where the entire cast
celebrates the great music of the decade – sure to
entertain the whole family. So don’t miss this summer’s
most Star-Studded show at the Palace Avenue
Theatre, Paignton.
